You Ask, We Answer: Quick Shine® Q & A

boy and girl playing on floor in background with Quick Shine products on floor in front

Quick Shine® Floor Care products are fantastic tools to revive and keep your floors looking new again!  Just like any other household product, customers might have some questions about it.  So today we are covering some common questions asked by our consumers.

Q:  Where can I find your Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster product?
A:  Our Floor Finish and Hardwood Luster are in most major retailers and some of your local ones as well.  Check out our Store Locator to see all the retailers where you can purchase our product.

Q:  When I was applying the Floor Finish to my floors, I sat the bottle on my table and it has dripped onto the surface.  How can I get this off without damaging my table?
A:  Anytime you accidentally get any drops of our Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table or counter, even after it’s dried, you can use Windex or Formula 409 to remove it.  Spray it on the area, let it sit for a minute or so then wipe it up with a damp cloth or sponge.  This method also works for customers who might have any over-splash on the bottom of their walls or appliances when applying the Floor Finish or Hardwood Luster on their floors.

Q:  What can I use to clean my floors with after I’ve applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish?
A:  Routine cleaning using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner via our Multi-Surface Spray Mop and microfiber pad is the best process.  However, after applying the Floor Finish we recommend waiting 4-5 days before using the cleaner on your floors to give it time to fully cure.  You can always dust mop during the first few days to keep your floors free of dirt and debris.

Q:  I used the Floor Cleaner on my floors, but they are not shiny.  The bottle says Quick Shine® so can you help me understand what went wrong?
A:  This is a common misconception.  Quick Shine® is the brand name of our Floor Care products line; however depending on what your floor care needs are will depend on which Quick Shine® product you’d want to use.  If you are looking for a floor cleaner, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner as a regular cleaning agent.  If you are looking to give your floors a shine or to revive your hardwoods, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster to give your floors that WOW factor.

Q:  I applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish to my floor and now, it looks streaky and cloudy.  What did I do wrong?
A:  Streaking is usually caused by a few issues: 1.) Not enough product was initially applied and you can correct that with an additional coat; 2.) There was residue on the floor before the Floor Finish was applied.  For example, other brand floor cleaning agents, or a vinegar solution; 3.) The same applicator pad used to clean your floors is being used to apply the Floor Finish; 4.) Not allowing sufficient time before applying subsequent coats; 5.) Trying to apply too many coats in a short period of time, not allowing each coat to dry completely.

I’ve recently started cleaning for a woman who built their house one year ago. Her former cleaning lady had been applying the quick shine every week for the last year. How do I get back down to the original floor so that I can use this stuff properly because she also failed to clean the floor properly and has an effect sealed quite a bit of debris and such into the floor.

      Hi Alyssa,
We recommend using our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner to safely remove our Floor Finish from your clients floors and provide a nice, clean surface. Our Deep Cleaner will remove the trapped debris and multiple layers of Finish quickly. This product was specifically developed to remove polymer and wax finishes without harming hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble, and laminate.

Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water and apply to the floor surface, let stand for a few minutes and agitate. Do small sections of the floor at a time. Then remove debris and build-up from the floor with a clear water rinse. For heavy buildup, you may need to increase the dilution of 1 cup per gallon to 3 cups per gallon. Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore one 27 oz. bottle will make roughly 2 gallons, which covers about 500 square feet and will not damage the sealant on hardwood floors. The Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at http://www.quickshine.net or by calling our Customer Service Center.

After using our Deep Cleaner, apply two or three coats of Quick Shine Floor Finish once each coat of finish has completely dried. You will be amazed at the deep, rich, even, protective glow. You will not need to go through the removing process again if applied and maintained correctly.

Hi! My Holloway House Quick Shine Floor Finish accidentally spilled on laminate flooring in an area that I did not see. It dried and hardened. How can I remove it and correct the problem?

Hi Sheila! You can use Quick Shine Deep Cleaner in the compromised area to safely remove the Floor Finish from your laminate floor. If you currently have our Floor Finish on the rest of your floor surface, after you use the Deep Cleaner to remove the spill area and it has dried, you can reapply the Floor Finish in that spot. Our product has leveling agents in the formula so that area will blend in nicely with the rest of the floor. If you have any additional questions, please call Customer Service M-F at 1-800-255-1891 from 8am-4:30pm EST. We’re always happy to help!

I used microfiber pads to apply Quick Shine Floor Finish. Unfortunately, a couple of the pads dried before they were washed. I’ve washed them several times; however, they’re so stiff, I’m unable to use them on the floors. How can I remove the product to make the pads soft again, without having to discard them and purchase new pads? Thank you!

      Hi Judy,

You can soak your microfiber pads in a mixture of ammonia and hot water for about 30-45 minutes and rinse well to release the polymer from the fibers to soften the pad again. This method has worked for many customers. If you need additional assistance, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

I am in love with the look of my VLP floors after using the Quick Shine polish, thank you so much! However, there are no stores near me that sell the Quick Shine cleaner, and I only have Bona floor cleaner on hand. Is it okay to clean over my floors with this? I am planning to do a second coat of the polish once the floors are clean. It has been one week since I cleaned them last.

      Hi Natalie,

We recommend maintaining the Finish with our Quick Shine Cleaners as other cleaners can sometimes dull or haze the Finish. You can find our Quick Shine Cleaner at Dollar General, Walmart, Walgreens, Mendards, Kroger and Ace Hardware. Our cleaners are also available online at http://www.amazon.com, http://www.walmart.com, http://www.jet.com and http://www.quickshine.net or by calling customer service at 800-255-1891. Hi Elisa,

Yes, our Quick Shine Floor Finish and Floor Cleaner are both safe to use on your polished porcelain tile floors. Our Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish is a water borne polymer designed to add a long lasting shine to hard surface floors. Our Floor Cleaner helps to maintain the shine in between Finish applications to gently clean the floor surface without removing the shine. If you have additional questions, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

I applied the Quick shine floor luster to my dark wood floors and have let them cure for a week now but when I used the Quick shine floor cleaner, it seemed to be taking off the wax I had previous put. I don’t know what else to clean the floors with. Any advice???

      Hi Jen,

If Quick Shine Finish did not adhere properly to your floor it will not be able to withstand moisture. We recommend applying two coats of Quick Shine Finishes for added durability. In some cases, if Quick Shine did not cover areas completely and moisture penetrates under those areas, it will cause the Finish to soften and remove. You can remedy the affected areas with our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. This product was specifically developed to safely remove our Finish and provide a clean surface for re-application. If you would like more information about our removal process, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help.

      Hi Bonnie,

Although our Quick Shine Finish was formulated for floors, many of our consumers have used our Finish on a variety of surfaces including counter tops, cabinetry and doors. We recommend testing the surface first to determine if Quick Shine achieves satisfactory results before applying to the entire surface. For additional assistance, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

I used quick shine on my hardwood floors and it looked great but every place a drop of water or anything has touched it, it has a dull spot. How’s the best way to remove the spots?

      Hi Susan,

We recommend spot treating the affected areas with our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water and apply to the floor surface, let stand for a few minutes and agitate. Do small sections of the floor at a time. Once the Finish has been removed, you can reapply a new coat of Finish to that treated area only for an even shine. If you have additional questions, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!
