Finish vs. Luster

In the left corner wearing green, weighing in at 27 oz. is the Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish.  In the right corner wearing brown, also weighing in at 27 oz. is the Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster.  Let’s get ready to rumble and see which is the winner for you!

Our Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster is fortified with pure carnauba that provides durability and a softer sheen to hardwood floors.  Another added benefit of the Hardwood Floor Luster is that the product is buffable so that scuffs and scratches can be buffed out if need be.  If you are wanting to spruce up your dull hardwood floors without the cost of replacing then this product is fantastic!  The Hardwood Luster will revive your floors and bring that beautiful hardwood back to life!

The Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish is designed to protect and impart a rich, deep, protective glow, giving a more high gloss shine compared to the Luster.  It is safe to use on a variety of hard floor surfaces including; hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl, and stone.  The Floor Finish is the perfect product if you want to give your floors that WOW factor!

Both products are water-borne polymer formulations.  The Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster and Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish are completely compatible and can be applied over existing, dry coats of one another.  Subsequent coats can be applied every 2-3 months, or 4-6 months depending on how high traffic your floors are to maintain the desired gloss level.

By all accounts, we declare both the Floor Finish and Hardwood Floor Luster winners!  Which corner are you in?

      Hi Christian,

We recommend applying every 2-6 months so every 4 months is perfect. You should remove the Luster every few years to start fresh again on the floors.

I put new engineered hardwood floors down a year ago. I just took of the rugs up and there is a be outline were the rug was. The area were the rug was is much lighter that the existing area which is beautiful with a great shine. Will the Quick Shine multi purpose floor finish bring back the shine where the rug was? If so, would it be better to use the floor finish or luster since the hardwoods are only a year old?

      Hi Becky,
We recommend applying our Finish to the entire floor to even out the appearance as our Finish provides a gloss.

Which product is more durable, the Finish or the Luster?

Also, if I want to apply a second coat of Luster, how long do I have to wait? On my first attempt I waited about an hour after applying the first coat of luster and when I applied the second coat, it ruined the finish of the first coat. I had to use the Deep Cleaner to remove everything and apply the first coat again. I then waited about 12 hours and applied a second coat to a very small area, and again, the second coat ruined the first coat.

      Hi Spiro,
Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster contains carnauba which adds to the durability and is great for high traffic homes. Our Multi-Surface does not contain this ingredient.
In regard to your floor, are you using a clean mop pad when applying the Luster? Once dry, additional coats can be applied. If the previous coat is coming back up, it didn’t dry and cure properly.

I recently used Howard Feed-N-Wax Wood Polish with orange oil and beeswax on my wood floor that was sanded. Can I use Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster on it? Please send reply via email. Thank you.

Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster is water based and may not adhere over Howard Feed N Wax Wood Polish with Orange Oil and Beeswax. We can only recommend that you test a small inconspicuous area to assure satisfactory results.
