Quick Shine® Q & A

BT3A4031

At Quick Shine®, we know how important it is to keep your floors looking their best. Whether you’re using our Floor Finish, Hardwood Floor Luster, or our cleaners, you might have a few questions along the way. No worries—we’ve got you covered! Here are some Quick Shine Q & A of the most common questions we hear from Quick Shine® users, along with expert answers to keep your floors shining.

Q: Where can I find Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster?

A: You can find our Floor Finish and Hardwood Floor Luster at most major retailers and even some local stores near you. To check availability in your area, use our Store Locator to see where you can pick up your favorite Quick Shine® products.

Q: I accidentally got some Floor Finish on my table. How do I remove it without causing damage?

A: Accidents happen! If you get Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table, countertop, or even walls and appliances, don’t worry—it’s easy to clean up. Just spray a little Windex or Formula 409 on the area, let it sit for a minute, and wipe it away with a damp cloth or sponge.

Q: After applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish, what should I use to clean my floors?

A: To keep your floors looking great, we recommend using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner with a microfiber pad or our Multi-Surface Spray Mop. However, after applying Floor Finish, wait 4-5 days before using any liquid cleaner to allow the finish to fully cure. In the meantime, you can dust mop to remove dirt and debris.

Q: I used Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner, but my floors aren’t shiny. What happened?

A: Great question! Quick Shine® is our brand name, but not every product in our lineup is designed to add shine. Our Floor Cleaners, including Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner and Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner, are made for everyday cleaning. If you want to add shine, apply Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster for that beautiful, glossy look.

Q: My floors look streaky and cloudy after applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish. What went wrong?

A: Streaking or cloudiness can happen for a few reasons:
1️⃣ Not applying enough product—this can often be corrected with another coat.
2️⃣ Residue from previous cleaners (like vinegar solutions or other brands’ products) reacting with the Floor Finish.
3️⃣ Using the same applicator pad for both cleaning and applying the finish.
4️⃣ Applying additional coats too soon—make sure each coat is fully dry before adding another.
5️⃣ Trying to apply too many coats in a short time.

If you’re experiencing streaks, don’t worry! You can remove buildup with our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner/Wax Remover and start fresh.

        Hi Carrie,

You can clean with a little baking soda and water but finish with a clean rinse in case some of the baking soda leaves residue behind.

      Hi Tim,
We recommend using Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner to safely remove our Finish from your floors and provide a clean surface once again. This product was specifically developed to remove polymer and wax finishes without harming hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble, and laminate. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor.

Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water and apply to the floor surface in small 5’ x 5’ squares at a time, let stand for a few minutes and agitate. Remove debris and build-up from each 5’ x 5’ area of the floor with a clear water rinse. For heavy buildup, you may need to increase the dilution of 1 cup per gallon to 3 cups per gallon. Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore one 27 oz. bottle will make roughly 2 gallons, which covers about 500 square feet and will not damage the sealant on hardwood floors. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor. After treating the small problem area let dry after rinsing and simply wipe a coat of the Quick Shine® Floor Finish on the treated area. This area will then blend in with the rest of the finished floor due to the advanced leveling agents in the formula. The Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at http://www.walmart.com, http://www.quickshine.net or by calling our Customer Service Center.

Hello, what would cause the floor luster to not cure correctly? I followed instructions and used the cleaner first and let it completely dry and then applied the luster. But I can see my dogs paw prints.

          Hi Mike,
When our polish does not cure properly, it is generally caused by a residue (cleaning surfactant or chemical) on the floor that acts as a barrier preventing our polish from bonding and curing properly.

I’ve been using Quick shine for some time on my black vinyl floor in basement. We usually utilize more in winter months and when we do we getting minor but very noticeable scuffs/scratches from chair movement on top layer of polish. Is there a way to remove when I encounter?
    1. Repolishing just covers the dullness but still noticeable as it’ll be lighter in this area.
    2. Removing 1 of the 2 layers to reapply makes it hard to keep a consistent shine from 1 plank to the other as I’ll have 3 coats in surrounding areas by simply trying to eliminate a 12″ scuff.

Please help. I have 1000sqf and don’t want to remove but also don’t want these scuffs/polish scratches to take away from the beauty of the flooring and shine. Thank you

      Hi Clayton,
Have you tried buffing the area with tennis ball or buffer attachment for your drill? We have seen this method work well for others. Our only other recommendation is spot treating the plank and reapplying a few coats to blend. Typically when you apply a new coat to the entire floor, the shine should look consistent.

Yes, Quick Shine is pH neutral and water-based. Many consumers have used our Finishes on a variety of sealed hard surfaces. We recommend cleaning the butcherblock surface with damp tap water. Once the surface is clean and dry, apply a few coats of Finish. Prevent water spotting by placing a towel near the sink area for the first few days as the Finish fully cures. 🙂

Do you recommend using the hardwood floor cleaner every time I apply a new cost of the hardwood floor luster? We just bought this house and were told by the seller that she just uses the Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster after she dust mops. I just need to know if it needs mopping with the Quick Shine Floor cleaner first and each time I apply the floor luster. Thanks

      Hi Sherry,

We only recommend using Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster every 2-6 months as needed. You can use our Cleaner on a weekly basis after dust mopping.

      Hi Kristine,
Yes, although Quick Shine was designed for floors, many of our consumers use it on a variety of other hard surfaces including countertops, cabinetry and furniture.

I recently cleaned my hardwood floors and applied the hardwood floor luster. It dried for about 8 hours before my dogs were allowed to walk on it. Even after drying I have paw prints all throughout the floor. Simply cleaning doesn’t rid the floors of the prints. If I remove the luster and start over(which I really don’t want to do), is there some way to prevent this from happening again?

      Hi Doug,
This indicates the Luster wasn’t curing properly. You can spot treat or remove the Finish completely and reapply and this should not happen again. The Luster may have been reacting with a cleaning agent.

Hi – I used quicks hime on my hardwood floor- followed the instructions- the floors looked great- however, very time we clean the floors (using Method almond wood floor cleaner), it goes on kind of like beading up- removes the shine and dries to a dull blotchy finish. If I reapply the quick line luster it returns the shiny finish…. so I bought your hardwood floor cleaner- and it did the same thing- not as bad- but the same. What can I use to clean the floors that will clean them and not always require another coat of quick shine luster? Should I just use water? Oil soap? Your wood floor cleaner diluted? I do like to have the floors clean. Its really frustrating to dread cleaning the floors.

      Hi Charisse,

We recommend removing our Finish and starting fresh again given the initial issue after using Method brand products. There may have been an issue with the Finish curing properly after repeat issues. We recommend using Quick Shine Deep Cleaner followed by a few new coats of Quick Shine Finish.

I love your product and use it on my hardwood floors. But how do you clean the mop head, I hate throwing it out and buying a new one.

      Hi Cherie,
Try soaking your mop pad in a mixture of 1 cup Ammonia to 1/2 gallon of HOT water. Let pad soak 45 minutes and rinse with clear water. This should soften the fibers again and restore the pad.
