Quick Shine® Q & A

BT3A4031

At Quick Shine®, we know how important it is to keep your floors looking their best. Whether you’re using our Floor Finish, Hardwood Floor Luster, or our cleaners, you might have a few questions along the way. No worries—we’ve got you covered! Here are some Quick Shine Q & A of the most common questions we hear from Quick Shine® users, along with expert answers to keep your floors shining.

Q: Where can I find Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster?

A: You can find our Floor Finish and Hardwood Floor Luster at most major retailers and even some local stores near you. To check availability in your area, use our Store Locator to see where you can pick up your favorite Quick Shine® products.

Q: I accidentally got some Floor Finish on my table. How do I remove it without causing damage?

A: Accidents happen! If you get Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table, countertop, or even walls and appliances, don’t worry—it’s easy to clean up. Just spray a little Windex or Formula 409 on the area, let it sit for a minute, and wipe it away with a damp cloth or sponge.

Q: After applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish, what should I use to clean my floors?

A: To keep your floors looking great, we recommend using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner with a microfiber pad or our Multi-Surface Spray Mop. However, after applying Floor Finish, wait 4-5 days before using any liquid cleaner to allow the finish to fully cure. In the meantime, you can dust mop to remove dirt and debris.

Q: I used Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner, but my floors aren’t shiny. What happened?

A: Great question! Quick Shine® is our brand name, but not every product in our lineup is designed to add shine. Our Floor Cleaners, including Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner and Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner, are made for everyday cleaning. If you want to add shine, apply Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster for that beautiful, glossy look.

Q: My floors look streaky and cloudy after applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish. What went wrong?

A: Streaking or cloudiness can happen for a few reasons:
1️⃣ Not applying enough product—this can often be corrected with another coat.
2️⃣ Residue from previous cleaners (like vinegar solutions or other brands’ products) reacting with the Floor Finish.
3️⃣ Using the same applicator pad for both cleaning and applying the finish.
4️⃣ Applying additional coats too soon—make sure each coat is fully dry before adding another.
5️⃣ Trying to apply too many coats in a short time.

If you’re experiencing streaks, don’t worry! You can remove buildup with our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner/Wax Remover and start fresh.

      Hi Roger,
We recommend spraying Formula 409 or Windex on the compromised area. Let solution sit for 1 minute and wipe clean. Once the area is clean and dry, simply reapply a new coat of Finish to blend the shine.

      Hi Patricia,
We recommend using Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner to safely remove our Finish from your floors. This product was specifically developed to remove polymer and wax finishes without harming hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble, and laminate. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor. This is also a great cleaner for stone tile flooring.

Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water and apply to the floor surface in small 5’ x 5’ squares at a time, let stand for a few minutes and agitate. Remove debris and build-up from each 5’ x 5’ area of the floor with a clear water rinse. For heavy buildup, you may need to increase the dilution of 1 cup per gallon to 3 cups per gallon. Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore one 27 oz. bottle will make roughly 2 gallons, which covers about 500 square feet and will not damage the sealant on hardwood floors. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor. After treating the small problem area let dry after rinsing and simply wipe a coat of the Quick Shine® Floor Finish on the treated area. This area will then blend in with the rest of the finished floor due to the advanced leveling agents in the formula. The Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at http://www.amazon.com, http://www.walmart.com, http://www.quickshine.net or by calling our Customer Service Center.

Quick Shine Finishes are water based so unfortunately when water sits on the surface after application, it can cause the finish to soften. Have you tried placing towels around the tub area during bath time to soak up the extra water?

I used your multipurpose floor finisher on my LVP to give it shine. I just moved the floor rugs in front of our back door and found it’s all flaking up. Do I have to strip this or can I reapply without? It looks like my floors had a really bad sunburn that’s now peeling…. HELP!! I’m

          Hi Lori,

We recommend spot treating that area with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. You do not need to remove all of the finish from your floors but since that area is peeling, we do recommend removing it from that section.

guess I am confused over your product line….We have used Quick Shine over the years….recently we moved a couch on wheels over the floor and of course it made marks in the finish (not the wood itself)….but I see that you have a Deep Cleaner and you also have a Wax Remover…..which should I purchase and is it available in the big box stores i.e. Lowes, Home Depot….you stated above that it is available only on line but another customer said they bought it at a store…

We recently polyurethane our wood floors. Can you tell me how to use the quick shine cleaner. The floor looks dull because of the heavy traffic . I read from some of your feedback to use hot water. I didn’t see that on the bottle. Also how long after can I put the quick shine finish. Thank you.

      Hi Patsy,

Polyurethane will generally take up to 14 days to fully cure so I would avoid cleaning or applying our Finish until after that time frame. You do not need to dilute our products with water as they are ready-to-use formulas.

I don’t want to remove the shine from my flooring though? Just the white dull areas of the left over residue.

          Patty,
Quick Shine Deep Cleaner will only remove the residue left by the Finish you used. It cannot chemically remove the factory shine or polyurethane finish. You can also spot treat any affected areas and retouch if needed.

No, unfortunately, the finish can clog the spray mechanism and damage the mop.

    Hi
One week ago, used your product on my floors and how I am afraid something is seriously wrong. I have natural bamboo floors and every time I clean them there is no shine and they look dull. I followed a hardwood cleaning regimen recommended by Bob Villa, rinsed them, and then used Quick Shine for hardwood floors. I waited a week and finally mopped my floors with only hot water and in three places I noticed white streaks and serious dulling. I wiped the areas with a cloth on my hands and knees and noticed the shine or wax was coming off and smearing at the edges where I wiped. Why is this happening? When I wiped these areas, you could see a pile of the wax where my cloth stopped, like a line of powder. I don’t know why this is happening or what to do OR if it is ruining my hardwood floors.

      Hi Theresa,
Thank you for reaching out. We want to encourage you that you have not ruined your bamboo hardwood floors. It sounds like the Finish did not fully cure which is why water alone began to remove it. You can spot-treat the affected areas with a mixture of 2-3 tbsp. of ammonia with 1/2 cup of HOT water. Apply solution and let sit 2-3 minutes before wiping away. Once that area is clean and dry, simply reapply Quick Shine to blend. We then recommend applying a new coat of Finish to the entire floor for added durability.

I’ve used quick shine luster and the quick shine cleaner on our gloss-polished hardwood floors for years with no issue. The only quick shine cleaning solution available at my local grocery store was the antibacterial one (which smells repulsive btw).

I cleaned the floors with this and it left a horrible; gray film. I rinsed the fiber clothe thoroughly and dried it before using the luster. It went in horribly. It pooled up like oil on water and now I have glossy speckles all over the floors. I tried another layer with a lighter coat to smooth it out after it dried and it did the same thing again. An older bottle of the luster went on better. Please let me know how to fix this. It’s extremely frustrating.

I am using Quick Shine Multi-surface Finish as a arts and crafts sealer. Is there something I can add to a quantity to make a Matt or satin sheen rather than a high gloss?

We do not recommend mixing our product as it could cause hazing.
