Quick Shine® Q & A

BT3A4031

At Quick Shine®, we know how important it is to keep your floors looking their best. Whether you’re using our Floor Finish, Hardwood Floor Luster, or our cleaners, you might have a few questions along the way. No worries—we’ve got you covered! Here are some Quick Shine Q & A of the most common questions we hear from Quick Shine® users, along with expert answers to keep your floors shining.

Q: Where can I find Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster?

A: You can find our Floor Finish and Hardwood Floor Luster at most major retailers and even some local stores near you. To check availability in your area, use our Store Locator to see where you can pick up your favorite Quick Shine® products.

Q: I accidentally got some Floor Finish on my table. How do I remove it without causing damage?

A: Accidents happen! If you get Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table, countertop, or even walls and appliances, don’t worry—it’s easy to clean up. Just spray a little Windex or Formula 409 on the area, let it sit for a minute, and wipe it away with a damp cloth or sponge.

Q: After applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish, what should I use to clean my floors?

A: To keep your floors looking great, we recommend using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner with a microfiber pad or our Multi-Surface Spray Mop. However, after applying Floor Finish, wait 4-5 days before using any liquid cleaner to allow the finish to fully cure. In the meantime, you can dust mop to remove dirt and debris.

Q: I used Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner, but my floors aren’t shiny. What happened?

A: Great question! Quick Shine® is our brand name, but not every product in our lineup is designed to add shine. Our Floor Cleaners, including Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner and Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner, are made for everyday cleaning. If you want to add shine, apply Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster for that beautiful, glossy look.

Q: My floors look streaky and cloudy after applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish. What went wrong?

A: Streaking or cloudiness can happen for a few reasons:
1️⃣ Not applying enough product—this can often be corrected with another coat.
2️⃣ Residue from previous cleaners (like vinegar solutions or other brands’ products) reacting with the Floor Finish.
3️⃣ Using the same applicator pad for both cleaning and applying the finish.
4️⃣ Applying additional coats too soon—make sure each coat is fully dry before adding another.
5️⃣ Trying to apply too many coats in a short time.

If you’re experiencing streaks, don’t worry! You can remove buildup with our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner/Wax Remover and start fresh.

How do I remove dried on Quick Shine from my microfiber mop? Laundering it and Goo Gone have not worked. I hate to throw out my mop after one application!

      Hi Clare,

We recommend soaking the pad in ammonia and hot water for 45 minutes and rinse with clear water. The ammonia will liquefy the finish from the stiffened pad and soften the fibers again. This method has worked for many consumers with similar issues. For additional assistance, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

          Hi Jose,

Quick Shine Floor Finish does not need to be buffed like a wax. Simply squirt and spread for a gorgeous shine that will last for months. Maintain the shine with Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner. We recommend to reapply Quick Shine Finish every 2-6 months to refresh your floors. I wonder if a thicker mop pad would prevent the smears that are left on real wood floors, because they are naturally uneven. I clean houses and I can’t always mop in the direction of the boards. Using any spray mop will make your back hurt. Somebody please invent a better mop or pad.

      Hi Jen,

No we do not recommend using our Holloway House Lemon Oil on your floors as they will become slippery. Lemon Oil works best on cabinetry, furniture and fine wood. We recommend using Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster on your bamboo floors. This product will provide a durable, protective shine to any sealed hardwood floor surface. Can Quick Shine be used on hardwood laminate flooring.
When I bought the flooring I was told to only use Bona or I would lose my warranty.
My niece did not know and used Quick Shine in my bedroom.
      The bedroom floor is beautiful!
Should I revert back to Bona?

        Hi JD,

It is important to stay with one brand for best results. Now that you have achieved the WOW factor with Quick Shine, we recommend maintaining your floors with Quick Shine Floor Cleaner. Our pH neutral cleaner will not dull the Finish where Bona may not be compatible and haze. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

            Hi Marie,

Quick Shine Floor Finish contains anti-slippage agents in the formula so it should not feel slippery. It is possible the Finish did not adhere properly to the floor and bond. For your safety, we recommend removing the Finish and starting fresh again. We recommend using Quick Shine Deep Cleaner to remedy the situation. Simply dilute our Deep Cleaner with hot water and apply to 5′ sections at a time. Allow solution to sit for 3-4 minutes and mop away. You can also just spot treat the affected area. Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at this time at http://www.quickshine.net or http://www.walmart.com. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. I’ve use quick shine finish for 20 years. On old hard word floors that had a carpet over them for fifteen years. The house was 50 years old when I bought I pulled the rugs clean the floor for days . Then I put the floor shine cleaner omg every time someone visited me they would say I see you had to sand those floors . Never ever did I do anymore but quick floor shine . I post pictures on fb e every one on my family uses it I’m a commercial for you. My question is we just bought a new new house with laminate floors . Can I still use my quick shine finish? In all honesty I never used the cleaner I had a horrible built up of 20 years I had to strip my floors.

      Hi Maria,

Yes, Quick Shine Floor Finish is safe to use on laminate floors too! It is important to damp mop your floors first to remove surface soil so you are not trapping dirt under the finish. Once Quick Shine Finish has been applied, simply maintain the shine by periodically dry dusting and damp mop with Quick Shine Cleaners for heavier soil. You can touch up the finish when needed but the general rule of thumb is every 2-6 months to avoid over using it. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. I applied first coat of Quickshine on my porcelain Tile with a microfiber mop and waited an hour. I wanted more shine so I rinsed the microfiber mop, put some more Quickshine directly on the floor. However, as I attempt to spread the 2nd coat of Quickshine, it starts to peel off the 1st application. What am I doing wrong? This us the 2nd time this happens.

          Hi Liliana,

If the first application is coming back up, it most likely did not adhere properly to the floor surface. What did you clean your floors with prior to applying the first coat? Some cleaners that are loaded with fragrance and surfactant can leave behind residue and that could be the issue. Let the finish dry overnight and try one more application tomorrow to see if it fixes the issue. If you need to remove the finish completely, we recommend using Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. I have used Quick Shine High Traffic Hardwood Floor Luster on my oak hardwood floors. It produced a nice, high-shine finish, but I would have preferred something not as glossy. I have some dull spots now where my dogs urinated. I can spot finish them with more Quick Shine, but I really cannot achieve a uniform finish for the spots and surrounding areas.

Is there a way to remove all the old Quick Shine finish for the entire floor (it is not a small floor) and start over? And is there another product that will give a matte finish rather than a high gloss finish?

      Hi William,

We do not recommend buffing Quick Shine as it could compromise the shine. If a higher gloss is desired, multiple coats can be applied. We recommend no more than 3 coats per day until you reach the gloss level you are trying to achieve. For additional questions, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. Hi Eric,

No, we do however recommend dry dusting to remove dirt/debris so it does not get “trapped” in the finish. For heavier soil, you can damp mop with tap water prior to applying Quick Shine Floor Finish. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!
