Quick Shine® Q & A

At Quick Shine®, we know how important it is to keep your floors looking their best. Whether you’re using our Floor Finish, Hardwood Floor Luster, or our cleaners, you might have a few questions along the way. No worries—we’ve got you covered! Here are some Quick Shine Q & A of the most common questions we hear from Quick Shine® users, along with expert answers to keep your floors shining.
Q: Where can I find Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster?
A: You can find our Floor Finish and Hardwood Floor Luster at most major retailers and even some local stores near you. To check availability in your area, use our Store Locator to see where you can pick up your favorite Quick Shine® products.
Q: I accidentally got some Floor Finish on my table. How do I remove it without causing damage?
A: Accidents happen! If you get Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table, countertop, or even walls and appliances, don’t worry—it’s easy to clean up. Just spray a little Windex or Formula 409 on the area, let it sit for a minute, and wipe it away with a damp cloth or sponge.
Q: After applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish, what should I use to clean my floors?
A: To keep your floors looking great, we recommend using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner with a microfiber pad or our Multi-Surface Spray Mop. However, after applying Floor Finish, wait 4-5 days before using any liquid cleaner to allow the finish to fully cure. In the meantime, you can dust mop to remove dirt and debris.
Q: I used Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner, but my floors aren’t shiny. What happened?
A: Great question! Quick Shine® is our brand name, but not every product in our lineup is designed to add shine. Our Floor Cleaners, including Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner and Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner, are made for everyday cleaning. If you want to add shine, apply Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster for that beautiful, glossy look.
Q: My floors look streaky and cloudy after applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish. What went wrong?
A: Streaking or cloudiness can happen for a few reasons:
1️⃣ Not applying enough product—this can often be corrected with another coat.
2️⃣ Residue from previous cleaners (like vinegar solutions or other brands’ products) reacting with the Floor Finish.
3️⃣ Using the same applicator pad for both cleaning and applying the finish.
4️⃣ Applying additional coats too soon—make sure each coat is fully dry before adding another.
5️⃣ Trying to apply too many coats in a short time.
If you’re experiencing streaks, don’t worry! You can remove buildup with our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner/Wax Remover and start fresh.

I have applied Quick Shine to brand new porcelain flooring that looks like wood but it is porcelain tile. At first it gave it a cleans shine but then a few days later the nightmare began…. with a residue peel that was starting to come up and it looks cloudy and ohhhh so bad. I will never use this product on porcelain flooring again……how do I strip the wax residue and bring back the matte finish look? Wish I had never done such thing but ….live and learn right !!!!! Will my flooring return to its original state ? We just bought this house brand new
Hi Marja,
It is possible the finish had not fully cured although it was dry and moisture had absorbed into the finish causing it to peel. You can spot treat the affected areas or remove the finish completely and start fresh with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Simply dilute our Deep Cleaner with hot water and apply to small sections at a time. Allow solution to sit for 3-4 minutes and mop or wipe away. Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at this time at http://www.quickshine.net or http://www.walmart.com. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. I’ve been using the Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster. I want to remove it from my floor WITHOUT stripping away the polyurethane seal of my wood. Will the Deep Cleaner work without removing the polyurethane seal? Will it only remove the Floor Luster?
Yes, Quick Shine Deep Cleaner cannot chemically remove factory or polyurethane finishes. Our Hardwood Floor Luster is water based. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!
I tried cleaning the wood floors first time with this cleaner and it’s super cloudy and looks so bad!! What should I do??
Hi,
You may need to allow Quick Shine Deep Cleaner to sit for 3-4 minutes on the surface before mopping it away with a clean water rinse. If our Finish is completely removed there will be no remaining residue or cloudiness left behind.
What product do you recommend to use between polishing. My floors look great!
Hi Melissa,
We recommend dry dusting frequently to keep dirt/debris to a minimum. For heavier surface soil, we recommend cleaning with Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner in between finish applications. This method will maintain the shine for months!
Can quick shine be used on the newer laminate water proof flooring???

I want to get my floors buffed and refinished. I just had someone walk – because I was told this hardwood product (brown label) with the wax,1) would cause it all to peel. 2) He said the wax ruins the floors. 3) How do I remove this product from my floor, so I can get it buffed and refinished?
Hi Sue,
Quick Shine Finishes are pH neutral and cannot damage floors. To safely remove our Finish prior to a sanding/recoat, we recommend remove the finish completely with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. If we clean it upright away we have no issues, but there are a couple spots we missed for a bit and now we can still see the outline of the puppy accident. What can we do to get the area so it looks the same as the rest of the floor?

The cloth I used to apply quick shine is now hard as a rock. I can’t make it soft again. If I try to apply quick shine with it again, it’s all streaky because the cloth is now rigid.
I don’t want to have to use a new cloth everytime. Should I not use a cloth? Is there a way to make cloths used to spread quick shine soft again??
Hi Ryan,
We recommend soaking the pad for 30-45 minutes in a mixture of 1 cup Ammonia and 1/2 gallon of HOT water. Rinse pad with clean water to release our Finish and soften the fibers again. Once the pad is clean, you should be able to reuse it without any streaking. Always rinse your pad immediately after use to avoid it stiffening again.
I use the quick shine on my hard wood floors and absolutely love it! They are real oak floors in an older home. I was wondering if I can use the quick shine on granite countertops. They are sealed but need something to make them shine. I know it can be used for stone floors I am just not sure about the countertops?
Hi Nancy,
Although Quick Shine was formulated for floors, many of our consumers use it on other surfaces including granite counter tops, cabinetry and furniture. We recommend wiping any residue from previous products off of your counter tops first and test our Finish in a small area to assure it performs properly. For additional assistance, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!
I have a dog.. he left scratch marks on the finish 😞

Does the mop head need to be wet before applying?
Hi Janet,
We recommend using the mop pad damp when applying Quick Shine as it helps spread out the Finish for an even appearance.

Hi Nickole,

I used Quick Shine Luster on my floors following the directions using a brand new microfiber mophead which I rinsed with water. The floor is streaky and cloudy. How do I fix this? Not happy about spending the day mopping.
Hi Carol,
a streaky/cloudy appearance is caused when a cleaner has left soap residue on the floor preventing our finish from properly adhering to the surface. To remedy your situation, we recommend removing our finish with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Simply dilute our Deep Cleaner with hot water and apply to 5′ sections at a time. Allow solution to sit for 3-4 minutes and mop away. Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at this time at http://www.quickshine.net or http://www.walmart.com. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!
