Q & A with our Experts

blog q and a with our experts

Trying a new product? We’ve got you covered! Whether you’re new to Quick Shine® or a longtime fan, here’s everything you need to know about our Multi-Surface Floor Finish and High Traffic Hardwood Floor Luster—both designed to bring your floors back to life.

What do these products do?

Our water-based formulas dry to a hard, glossy finish, adding shine and slip resistance to sealed floors. Apply in thin layers, let dry for 30–45 minutes between coats, and avoid water exposure for 4–5 days to allow full curing.

What’s the difference between Floor Finish & Hardwood Luster?

  • Floor Finish: Ideal for all sealed hard floors.
  • Hardwood Luster: Contains carnauba wax for extra depth and shine on hardwood floors.

How do I clean my floors after applying Quick Shine®?

For the first 4–5 days, use a dry dust mop only. After curing, clean with Quick Shine® Floor Cleaners and a microfiber mop—no flood-mopping!

Can I use Quick Shine® on all floor types?

  • Laminate & engineered hardwood: Yes, apply in thin coats.
  • Oil-based floors: No, our water-based formulas won’t adhere.
  • Outdoor areas & garages: Not recommended.

What if I see streaks or white spots?

  • Streaks: Likely caused by residue or improper application. Apply an extra coat to even it out.
  • White spots: Caused by water during curing. Let dry overnight, then reapply a thin layer over the affected area.

Can I buff or steam clean my floors after applying Quick Shine®?

  • Buffing: Only recommended for Hardwood Luster, not Floor Finish.
  • Steam Cleaning: Not recommended—it can weaken the finish.

With Quick Shine®, achieving beautiful, long-lasting floors is simple. Just apply, let dry, and enjoy the shine! ✨

I have applied the high traffic quick shine to my hardwood floors after using the cleaner. Certain areas do not have the same high gloss finish when it dries. I have applied to the entire area in the same fashion so I don’t understand why parts of the hardwoods still look dull next to other areas that are ultra shinny. What could be causing this?

          Hi Ava,

Dull areas can be caused if there is still residue on the floor from a cleaner or spill. The residue will prevent our Finish from adhering to the surface and the areas where it does adhere, will be glossy. To correct this situation we recommend spot treating those dull areas with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Once the Finish has been removed in those areas, simply reapply a new coat of Finish for an even shine. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. So with the floor finish it says to use a damp cloth but then it says not to get it wet. Should I use a damp cloth to apply it or a dry cloth?????

      Hi Mike,

For best results, dampen the mop pad to when applying the Floor Finish. This will prevent our Finish from absorbing right into the pad and provide a more even application. For additional questions, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

      Hi Karen,

Yes, you can apply Quick Shine Floor Finish on your vinyl tile floors, however you will need to allow the grout to fully cure for several days before applying our Finish. Also, the grout may need to be sealed prior to applying our Finish to avoid our Finish from absorbing right into the grout. Please contact customer service at 800-255-1891 for additional assistance. Hi Deb,
If you are experiencing footprints after the Finish has completely dried, moisture could be absorbing into the Finish too quickly. Were the bottoms of the shoes or feet damp when walking over the floor? It is important to keep moisture off of the floor for the first week to avoid clouding the Finish as it fully cures. You can try dry dusting the floor to make sure it wasn’t something on the bottom of shoes/feet leaving a residue on the floor as well. If you need to spot treat the area in question, simply dilute 1 cup of Quick Shine Deep Cleaner in a 1/2 gallon of HOT water and apply solution over affected area. Let solution sit 2-4 minutes before mopping or wiping away. Once the area is clean and dry, you can reapply a new coat of Finish to that area only. This method has worked with consumers experiencing similar situations.

      Hi Nicole,

It is important to make sure the floor is clean and dry prior to applying our Finish. Test a small area first to assure proper adhesion to the floor and test if our Finish is compatible with Bona Cleaners.
