You Ask, We Answer: Quick Shine® Q & A

boy and girl playing on floor in background with Quick Shine products on floor in front

Quick Shine® Floor Care products are fantastic tools to revive and keep your floors looking new again!  Just like any other household product, customers might have some questions about it.  So today we are covering some common questions asked by our consumers.

Q:  Where can I find your Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster product?
A:  Our Floor Finish and Hardwood Luster are in most major retailers and some of your local ones as well.  Check out our Store Locator to see all the retailers where you can purchase our product.

Q:  When I was applying the Floor Finish to my floors, I sat the bottle on my table and it has dripped onto the surface.  How can I get this off without damaging my table?
A:  Anytime you accidentally get any drops of our Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table or counter, even after it’s dried, you can use Windex or Formula 409 to remove it.  Spray it on the area, let it sit for a minute or so then wipe it up with a damp cloth or sponge.  This method also works for customers who might have any over-splash on the bottom of their walls or appliances when applying the Floor Finish or Hardwood Luster on their floors.

Q:  What can I use to clean my floors with after I’ve applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish?
A:  Routine cleaning using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner via our Multi-Surface Spray Mop and microfiber pad is the best process.  However, after applying the Floor Finish we recommend waiting 4-5 days before using the cleaner on your floors to give it time to fully cure.  You can always dust mop during the first few days to keep your floors free of dirt and debris.

Q:  I used the Floor Cleaner on my floors, but they are not shiny.  The bottle says Quick Shine® so can you help me understand what went wrong?
A:  This is a common misconception.  Quick Shine® is the brand name of our Floor Care products line; however depending on what your floor care needs are will depend on which Quick Shine® product you’d want to use.  If you are looking for a floor cleaner, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner as a regular cleaning agent.  If you are looking to give your floors a shine or to revive your hardwoods, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster to give your floors that WOW factor.

Q:  I applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish to my floor and now, it looks streaky and cloudy.  What did I do wrong?
A:  Streaking is usually caused by a few issues: 1.) Not enough product was initially applied and you can correct that with an additional coat; 2.) There was residue on the floor before the Floor Finish was applied.  For example, other brand floor cleaning agents, or a vinegar solution; 3.) The same applicator pad used to clean your floors is being used to apply the Floor Finish; 4.) Not allowing sufficient time before applying subsequent coats; 5.) Trying to apply too many coats in a short period of time, not allowing each coat to dry completely.

Hi, I love your floor finish. I have used it for several years. I just had my kitchen and bathroom floors replaced with ceramic tile with grout lines. The contractor told me that the newer grouts do not need to be sealed. I told him I thought Floor Finish would be a good material to apply to the whole surface (both grout and ceramic tiles). He said that the floor should be given at least a week, perhaps more before applying any material to allow for curing of the grout (and mortar, I suppose). Please let me have your thoughts on my plan to apply Floor Finish and the timing thereof.
    Thanks.

      Hi John,

It is important to allow full cure time before applying our Finish on the surface of your tile and grout to avoid hazing the Finish. If moisture gets trapped under our Finish it will cause a cloudy appearance. Once your tile and grout has fully cured (per contractor suggested time) we recommend damp mopping your floors with water to remove any residue left behind. Once the floor is clean and dry, simply squirt and spread the Finish working in small sections of the floor at a time. Additional coats are recommended on tile for an even application. Please let us know if you have additional questions by contacting customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

Can I use the quick shine finish every week? I’m not clear if I can use weekly. It looks great when applied weekly. I mop the floor every week with Bona then apply the shine. It looks amazing but I worry about a build up. I love the product. As a second question should I use something special to remove the build up.

      Hi Sonja,

We do not recommend applying our Finish on a weekly basis as over time it can develop a buildup. General rule of thumb is to allow 2-6 months in between applications to allow foot traffic to slowly wear down the Finish. Maintain the floor by cleaning periodically with Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner. Our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner will safely remove our Finish if you ever decide to remove it and start fresh in the future. If you have additional questions, please contact 800-255-1891. Hi Cherry,

Although Quick Shine was specifically developed for floors, many consumers have used Quick Shine to restore the shine to table tops, counters, floors, etc. If you have additional questions, please contact 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

          Hi Patrick,

We recommend applying 2 coats of Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster to your oak floors for added durability and shine. The more coats you add, the higher the shine. We do not recommend applying more than 3 coats in one day to prevent the Luster from “biting” into the finish. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. Hi Newanda,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your floors. If Quick Shine Floor Finish did not adhere and cure properly to your floor, you can safely remove it with our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. This product was specifically developed to safely remove our Finish from sealed floors including hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl and stone. Simply dilute our Deep Cleaner with HOT water and mop solution over a 5′ area, let sit 2-3 minutes and mop away. Finish with a clean water rinse. Once the area is clean and dry, you can reapply Quick Shine Finish. If you have additional questions, please contact 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

I need to remove this product from tile floors I cleaned for a client. She said it looks as tho something was spilled in random places throughout the home. She informed me the product contained wax. I really need to fix this because she is a weekly client. It is ceramic tile with a wood design on the tile. Thanks.

SAME thing here Traci! Nowhere on the bottle does it say it’s wax or that you should only apply every 2-6 months. I had to order a $30 bottle of the deep clean and now I am going to have to spend extra time at the salon I clean as they specified they didn’t want me to use wax but it turns out I have been! Hoping I don’t lose clients over this.

          Hi Leslie,

We are sorry to hear that you have developed a buildup on your clients floors. Our bottle states to maintain the shine by periodically cleaning with Quick Shine Cleaner. Unfortunately over using the Finish can result in a buildup as foot traffic cannot wear down the shine quickly. Our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner will liquefy the layers of Finish and bring the floors back to the original factory finish so you can start fresh again. If you need additional assistance, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

Can I apply quick shine multi-surface floor finish on my granite wall tiles on my shower? Is it water proof? And, will it maintain its seal-gloss shine.
If not does Quik Shine make a product for granite shower walls that I can apply?

Hi Raymond. Unfortunately, we do not recommend applying Quick Shine in shower areas where water will be in direct contact consistently. This can compromise the shine. We do not formulate products for wet environments at this time.

      Hi Angelique,

Thank you for reaching out to us. If you have the 27 oz. bottle, simply squirt the Finish out in an “S” pattern. The squirt top will provide enough product to distribute on a section of the floor. Our 64 oz. bottle will need to be gently poured to the floor. You can spread the Finish over a 5′ area and proceed to the next section and repeat. Our 27 oz. bottle covers 500 sq. ft. and our 64 oz. bottle covers 1200 sq. ft. Hi Dryw,

You can safely remove our Finish with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. This product is only available online at this time. Another alternative is 1 cup of ammonia to 1/2 gallon of HOT water. Mop solution on floor and allow to sit for 3-4 minutes before mopping away. This method has also worked for consumers needing a quick fix. Hi Lisa,

You can remedy the area a few ways. If the Finish turned milky with your first coat, there may have been residue preventing a good adhesion in that area. You will want to remove the Finish in that area with a mixture of ammonia and HOT water. Once the area is clean and dry, simply reapply our Finish to that area again for an even shine. If you applied a second coat and noticed the milky appearance, allow that area to dry over night and apply more Finish to that one area the next day. This will draw out the moisture in most cases. I love your product in my floors look great, however, my brand new mop head that I used to spread it is now hard as a rock and pretty much unusable.
I rinsed it when I was done in warm water but it still dried hard as a rock and I have tried soaking it in Dawn in warm water to try to get it out but it’s not working. I thought of putting it in the washing machine but I’m afraid it will break my washing machine!
So how do I remove this from my mop head? As I said, it is a brand new microfiber mop head and I really don’t want to have to throw it out.

You want to start with a clean surface. It is recommended to first damp mop your floors with water to remove previous cleaning residue for best results. Once the floor is clean and dry, simply squirt and spread the finish for an instant shine!

I have applied 3 coats of Quick Shine Floor Finish to a 40 year old linoleum floor and love the new shine. My question: I have a couple of places where I apparently missed mopping and now have something akin to splash drops but totally dry. I don’t want to strip and reapply. Is there any way to repair the finish, I.e., smooth out the splash marks? Thank you.

        Hi Carolyn,

You can spot treat those few areas with a mixture of 3 tbsp. of ammonia and 1 cup of HOT water. Apply solution and allow it to sit 3-4 minutes before wiping away. Once the area is clean and dry, simply reapply Quick Shine Finish to that area and blend. It may take a few coats to even out the shine if you have 3 coats on the rest of the floor.
