Time-Saving Holiday Cleaning

Holidays can leave hosts feeling the pressure to have their homes in tip-top shape when guests arrive. If you are feeling stressed this week, check out these time-saving holiday cleaning tips.

Entryway- Pickup and put away backpacks, coats, and shoes that clutter the entry so guests are not greeted with bulky items hanging out or stinky shoes leaving a bad first impression.

Floors- Vacuum or dry dust floors to remove dirt, pet hair, and allergens. For stuck-on dirt and grime, use a damp microfiber mop like our Quick Shine Spray Mop for quick and easy cleanup. If your floors lack their luster, restore them with Quick Shine Finishes.

Kitchen- Fresh pumpkin pie, turkey, and everything in between just taste better in a clean oven. Use that self-cleaning feature on your oven while you tackle other cleaning tasks. If you can’t stand the heat, opt to give your oven a quick steam bath: Fill a casserole dish with water and ½ cup of vinegar. Heat the oven to 350, let the water boil for 30 minutes, then let it cool down. Grab a paper towel and wipe the grease away.

Don’t forget to give your counters and appliances a quick wipe down with a microfiber cloth and our Stainless Steel Cleaner.

Bathrooms- Who doesn’t love lathering up with nice hand soap? Put out holiday soaps and your guests won’t be able to resist.

Fluffy towels make your bathroom feel like a five-star hotel. Toss towels in the wash with ½ cup of vinegar to refresh and soften them up.

Keep family and friends from rummaging through your cupboards by leaving extra toilet paper in sight. A pretty basket is a great place to stash a few rolls.

Don’t forget to empty the trash can and clean the toilet bowl.

Just before guests arrive, light a candle and flip off the light for an instant ambiance. Candles are a great way to cover up any less-than-fresh smells — plus they give off just enough light for guests to find your light switch in the dark.

Living Room- Spritz couches and upholstery with a deodorizing room spray. If you have pets, this will help mask any unpleasant odors that may make guests feel less comfortable in your home.

For pet hair, use a lint roller and toss away the sticky sheet. Your guests probably won’t want to take the hair home with them.  😉

A quick vacuum or dusting beforehand will make your house look polished. Sprinkle your carpet with baking soda before vacuuming to deodorize and revive the carpet fibers.

And that’s all there is to it! Just relax and enjoy your family and friends. Happy Holidays!
